Registered with the Jockey Club - Kentucky bred - BC Nominated
GRASS VALLEY (Valley) is my foundation mare. She is a 1995 mare by MARFA out of a LORD AT WAR mare JO JOS LEGACY
I bought her back in 98 in Kentucky. She broke her maiden going 6 furlongs on the dirt in her 2nd start in a Maiden Special. In 1999 I inherited another trainer when mine moved to California. I suggested running her on the Grass, sending her 1 1/16th and taking the blinkers off. My trainer called me green. My response was, I don't care if you think I'm purple, DO IT. The guy jumped her a class to Non Winners of 3 Allowance. She won breaking from the 1 hole leading from the first turn and drew off to win by 5 lengths. A tick off the track record. I obviously switched trainers after the race. The guy didn't want to give up a fit horse, but I finally got her shipped to Texas to a friend of mine who trains and she won off a 60 day layoff in another Allowance race, same conditions at Louisiana Downs. We put her in the Margarita BC Handicap. I was talked into letting the girl ride who rode her in the a.m. She went off at 7/2 and finished 5th. I wasn't happy. Finished 5th next Allowance race, found a blood clot in her hoof. 8th next race - bit her tongue. Then she bowed and I brought her to California and gave her a year off. I put her back in training and caught the new trainer drugging her, so I retired her and bred her.
She is half to stakes winner
